01 Laguna Verde
Wild Camping at the Laguna Verde on the Lagoon Route.
This spot is already in the national park which costs 150Bs/person for 5 days.
It has been 4°C when we arrived in the afternoon. Bolivia has 1h time difference to Chile!
It is much more windy than in San Pedro de Atacama or any other place in Chile which we visited on similar altitude.
The spot is small but pretty much levelled.
No infrastructure here. You have to take all rubbish out of the park. No trash bins.
Altitude: 4.349m
Night temperature: -1,5°C

02 Laguna Colorada
There is a large parkingarea at an elevated view point at Laguna Colorada where we parked.
Before sundown there are many touists visiting the laguna, but they leave before darkness.
Great views to the lagoon on three sides of the place, so you can watch the flamingos in the morning as well as in the evening and always have the right light on them.
There is no infrastructure at the car park but there might be at the close by hostel.
The access road is very rocky and you need to drive carefully.
In general the pists in th epark are not in any good condition. Around the laguna there are several side pists which might, or might not, be better than the main road.
Altitude: 4.322m

After the lagoon route we were looking for a nice spot to relax. This lagoon is a very nice spot. In addition to the lagoon there are large eroded rocks which are pretty cool.
There are several options to park and camp.
Depending where you park, you will not be seen from the road.
It is much more wind here than we had on the lagoon route.
Altitude: 4.315m

Back from the Salar we were too late to drive to Uyuni, so we just parked road side to a piste.
Nothing special.
Some noise still from the main road, which is being newly paved but not yet opened.

We needed a spot for an overnight between Uyuni and Potosi. This place is of sight from the road with a view into the valey and the river. But property belongs to the comunity and you would need to ask permission to camp.

Before entering Sucre in late evening, we wanted to park up for an overnight before.
There are several quarries along the rivers you may pass on this route. We asked the people here to stay on their ground between the trees not being seen from the road neraby. Some cows welcomed us in the morning. Same as singing birds. A nice welcome after the longt time on the Altiplano. An as it is Sunday, no work in progress in the quarry.

One of the famous overlander spot in Sucre is Alberto and Felicitas. Nock on the red/brown gate with number 70.
He has stoped his service temporarily but it is now open again. (5/2015)
Unfortunately the entrance is only 2.4m wide and too narrow for us, so we parked on the street in front of his property.
There is quite some traffic during night and early morning. But it is walking distance to the main plaza.
Agua potable available. No WiFi.
We paid 50Bs for parking on the road. It would be 70Bs inside the garden.
Altitude: 2.824m

As we only left Sucre in the afternoon, we needed a place to spend the night. There are only few spots to stay if you don' want to park directly in the villages.
This spot is beside the old bridge over Rio Grande.
It is pretty level and enogh space. A few trees provide some little cover from the road, but it is still very close to it.
Not too bad for a night as there is little traffic during night.
Altitude: 1.511m

Along a very dusty road, there are only very few spots where you may consider to stay. This spot gives the opportunity to go 100m off the road and to have view into the valley.
There is plenty of space and you might be seen from the road, but can hide from one side at least.
Surprisingly there is more traffic in the late evening than during the day...

Nice campground a bit up the hill.
Access road is steep and bumpy but also larger trucks will get through.
There is WiFi at tha reception.
Hot showers with enough water.
Unfortunately there is no pool.
The campground is located a couple hundred meters out of town, so there is very little noise at night.
Price: 50Bs/person/night.

Wild camping at the Ruinas Arqueologicas Santa Cruz la Vieja.
There is a good parking place in front of the entrance.
Only little traffic on the gravel road.
The road barrier at the entrance was open and the guard was sleeping, so we have had no check when we entered.
Still a few cars passing by at night.
No infrastructure.
Hotel Villa Chiquitan could only offer us to park in front of the hotel and there was a lot of noise from the construction work which is currently going on. So we decided to look for an alternative which we defiitely found here. Only the pool is missing :-)
An even nicer spot would be at: S 17,87403° W 60,76628°, the entrance to the valle de la luna, a bit further up the road.

We checked the camping municpal, which was very crowded and not very inviting abience.
Camping Mirafrorece was looking nice but the entrance has a clearance of only 3,50m or maybe a little more. However, it was impossible for us to get in.
The 'El Puente' is also located at the hot river but mainly for day tourists. Access from the highway with clearance for bigger trucks. The price for acampar is the same as for a daily visit.
Toilets are available if needed.
We paid 10Bs/person/night (in advance :-) )

Folowed tracks off the main piste
To avoid the heavy washboard from the main pist, we followed some of the side pists and ended in serious offroad. The tracks headed into the sand and crossed some canyons. I was really fun to drive thisoffroad passage. On the other hand, we haven't had any support (2nd truck) with us in case of getting stuck. There are plenty of tracks to follow. We continued to come off the main piste which made us a bit nervous.
In one canyon our tire-track has been too wide for the given track and we decided to reverse to then climb up the sandy slopy hill.

This is a very nice lagoon.
However, there is very little space to park on level ground and off the road.
Hence we decided to pass on.
